Created in 2009, the Collector Swedish Open is a women tennis tournament held in Bastad, in the south of the country, in July and on clay. This Lagardère Unlimited event is a WTA International tournament which begins the day after the end of Wimbledon, the third Grand Slam of the season. Spanish player has won the very first edition while France’s Aravane Rezai triumphed in 2010 against Argentina’s Gisela Dulko, a double title-holder in the doubles tournament.
Collector, a Swedish finance company, is the title partner of the event. There used to be a Swedish Open during the pre-open era, a women’s tournament held from 1948 to 1990 and won by some great champions like Maureen Connolly, Françoise Durr or Maria Bueno.
